Kannauj, situated on the banks of the sacred Ganges river in Uttar Pradesh, has been distilling fragrant botanicals for over 1,000 years. Known worldwide as the Grasse of the East, every street in Kannauj breathes the aroma of wet earth, blooming roses, and precious woods.
AROMI was born directly from these historic brick stills. We partner with multi-generational master distillers (Attarsmiths) who preserve the untouched recipes passed down through ancient royal courts.
Our mission is to bring true Kannauj attar to the world stage — unadulterated, alcohol-free, and rich in natural soul.
Ancient Hydro-Distillation Stills
Unlike industrial chemical perfumes that use synthetic solvents, every AROMI attar is extracted using the traditional 100% natural copper Deg & Bhapka hydro-distillation method.
The Copper Deg
Freshly hand-picked petals, roots, or clay baked in clay pots are sealed into heavy copper cauldrons called Degs using natural mud paste.
Bamboo Chonga & Steam
Gentle wood fires heat the Deg. Fragrant steam travels through hollow bamboo pipes (Chonga) into receiver pots immersed in cold water baths.
Sandalwood Base & Bhapka
The receiver copper vessel (Bhapka) contains pure Sandalwood oil which absorbs the aromatic vapors drop by drop over weeks of patient distillation.
Pure Single-Origin Ingredients
We never use parabens, phthalates, synthetic fixatives, or mineral oils. Only pure botanical extracts.
Mitti / Baked Clay
Distilled baked topsoil that captures the mystical scent of first monsoon rain.
Rosa Damascena
Hand-harvested at dawn before the sun dissipates delicate essential rose oils.
